Thames magic at Eynsham
Jane says: "This is a fantasy aerial view of the river near the village where I live. My son and I like to go fishing or swimming there. The biodiversity here is truly wondrous, and the sense of history - that ancient peoples lived and farmed here - is tangible. I have seen all the creatures featured in this painting at this stretch of the river, between Pinkhill Lock and Swinford Toll Bridge. " |

Stars and stripes forever
Jane says: "One evening in Tanzania, a lone zebra, rather than galloping away as our truck approached, simply stood quietly and allowed us to watch for a moment as the full moon rose into a starry sky behind it above the mountainous ridge beyond. It struck me that this simple and beautiful scene of 'stars and stripes forever' would outlive any political boundaries." |

Finbarr
Jane says: "Quite simply, the most graceful cat I have belonged to. She would sit with the elegance of an Egyptian temple cat, neatly tucking in her paws before closing her eyes and dreaming..."

Harvestmoonrise
Jane says: "I had an idea to paint a field of sunflowers beneath a moonrise and investigate the contrast between bright yellows and deep ultramarine. This work has inspired so many of my sunflower works since." |

African patchwork
Jane says: "I came back from my first trip to sub-saharan Africa filled with the folklore, ideas and rhythms of West Africa. To quench my thirst for more, I visited the new Africa galleries at the British Museum and the Pitt-Rivers museum in Oxford and sketched my heart out. The result is this patchwork of faces, totems and masks creating an image of a single sculptural form which actually only exists in my imagination." |
